The Verdin Company is seeking a Manufacturing Manager to lead their oneofakind custom fabrication shop. This position will oversee their small but highly experienced and talented team of fabricators welders machinists and painters on the shop floor as well as other key personnel in inventory purchasing shipping and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daytoday shop floor operations including scheduling of new orders managing jobs in process ensuring quality control and crating/shipment of completed projects.
  • Supervise the creating and of work orders to capture and allocate labor and materials for each job.
  • Monitor jobs in process to ensure deadlines are met and manufactured products conform to specifications of purchase orders and customer approved drawings.
  • Ensure that each job is carefully inspected for quality and adherence to approved drawings and Verdin standards of quality.
  • Recruit train and develop key production personnel in areas of custom fabrication and assembly; foster a positive highperformance teamoriented culture focused on producing superior products.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of factory team leaders and other key personnel.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and opportunities for cost savings and productivity gains.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols on the factory floor; ensure that safety policies manuals and all applicable regulatory rules are understood and followed by factory personnel.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upgrades of plant machinery to minimize downtime and maximize functionality.
  • Maintain a clean wellorganized and safe factory environment.
  • Manage inventory and other production resources efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Work constructively with sales and engineering/design teams to make sure manufactured products meet customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with field service teams to provide manufacturing solutions that facilitate timely and efficient installations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 510 years of experience in manufacturing leadership positions preferably with companies engaged in the custom fabrication of metal or mechanical products where each job is different and requires careful attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire build and motivate tightknit teams of manufacturing personnel.
  • Confidence and professionalism in communicating with customers on pending orders especially when projects are running late or experience unexpected setbacks.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical and electrical products as well as the tools and machinery involved in making such products.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
  • Experience with ERP systems (we use Global Shop) and proficiency with MS Office including Excel Word and Outlook.
