DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT THE CITADEL PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE POSITION
The Department of Psychology at The Citadel invites applications for a nontenure track Professor of Practice in Clinical or Counseling Psychology to begin in August 2025. The position will primarily teach graduate courses in our robust ClinicalCounseling MA program that is accredited by the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC) and trains Licensed Professional Counselors to work in a variety of settings. Teaching load will be 33 with the preference of at least 1 summer for additional pay course as the graduate program is yearround. This position will also serve as the Field Placement Coordinator for the graduate program as well as contribute to other supportive roles including advising graduate students.
Minimum requirements include a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology licensed or licenseeligible in SC and previous administrative supervision training and teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3 years of direct clinical/counseling experience working with a diverse range of populations settings and mental health conditions across the lifespan; knowledge of community mental health policy and practice; and previous experience supervising clinical work working on a multidisciplinary team and teaching in higher education. Previous administrative experience is preferred. In addition we seek candidates who fit with our philosophy of training students in the use of empiricallysupported treatments.
The Department of Psychology (with 11 fulltime faculty) has approximately 75 undergraduate majors; in addition we have about 110 graduate students in two programs Clinical Counseling and School Psychology both accredited (by MPCAC and NASP/CAEP respectively).
