Job Description

The Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music invites applications for a fulltime tenuretrack position as Assistant Professor of Musicology/Ethnomusicology to begin August 15 2025. We seek a scholarteacher passionate about the education of undergraduates and capable of integrating cuttingedge research into a variety of pedagogical contexts. The ideal candidate will bring research expertise in music of the contemporary world on themes such as music in regional or global perspectives; music new media and technology; improvisatory musical practices; and/or identity and community formation. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research and publication record to teach courses in multiple formats for both undergraduate music majors and nonmusic majors 22 load) and to bring demonstrated experience with current pedagogical discourse and best practices.



PhD in Musicology or Ethnomusicology is required by the time the appointment begins. Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is desired.
