Job Description

DEPARTMENT:Tutoring Services
GENERAL PURPOSE
Molloys Tutoring Services tutors are responsible for providing students with individualized assistance for course content and assignments. Professional Tutors lead oneonone or small group lessons.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviewing syllabi topics and assignments with the student/s.
- Assist students with homework test preparation and other academic tasks.
- Work with students to help them understand key Physics concepts especially those learned in the classroom.
- Assist students to improve their academic performance including study strategies notetaking skills and approaches to answering test questions.
- Develop and distribute teaching materials to supplement classroom lessons including study guides.
- Providing students with positive and constructive feedback.
Expertise in teaching at the college level would complement this role.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years of Physics teaching or Physics tutoring experience on the college level.
- NYS Physics Teaching Certification
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUBLIC CONTACT
- Daily contact requiring courtesy discretion and sound judgment.
SALARY INFORMATION
When determining the salary offer for a new employee Molloy considers several key characteristics such as job knowledge skills and experience as well as internal and external equity. The hiring hourly pay rate for this position is $50.00. This hiring hourly pay rate represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting.
