Job Description Summary
The Art Department at Chapman University is seeking a motivated and detailoriented Student Worker to provide support in the ceramics area. This role involves assisting with daily operations in the ceramics studio including maintaining equipment managing supplies and supporting both faculty and students. The Ceramics Support Student Worker will work closely with the Ceramics Lab Lead Professor Kiddie and the department Studio Manager Lorena Ochoa to ensure the smooth functioning of the ceramics lab. This position requires 10 hours per week during the spring semester.
Responsibilities
The Ceramics Studio Assistant position offers approximately 5 hours per week flexible hours so this is great for students with busy school schedules. Key Responsibilities: Studio Maintenance: Assist with the daily upkeep of the ceramics studio including cleaning work areas tools and equipment to ensure a safe and organized environment. Equipment Management: Monitor and maintain ceramics equipment such as kilns pottery wheels and glazing stations reporting any issues or maintenance needs to the Ceramics Studio Manager. Supply Management: Track and manage ceramics supplies including clay glazes and tools. Assist with inventory checks and help reorder materials as needed. Class Support: Provide support during ceramics classes by preparing materials assisting students with equipment and helping with setup and cleanup tasks. Safety Protocols: Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed in the ceramics studio including proper use of equipment and handling of materials. Student Assistance: Offer guidance and support to students working in the ceramics studio including answering questions and providing assistance with techniques and processes. Collaboration: Work closely with the Lab Lead and Studio Manager to support studio operations and address any issues or needs that arise. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support the overall function of the ceramics area and contribute to a positive studio environment.
Required Qualifications
Current student at Chapman University preferably with an interest in ceramics fine arts or a related field.
