Dominican is seeking an accomplished writer to mentor graduate students in our MFA Creative Writing Program. Our low residency program pairs students to work oneonone with writing mentors through semesterlong courses in creative writing. Mentors guide students in developing the craft and aesthetic vision of their creative writing.
Responsibilities
- Lead a sixunit writing mentorship that includes both reading and writing assignments tailored to student interest and genre.
- Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
- Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
- Uphold academic performance standards and integrity
Required Qualifications
- Masters Degree
- A graduate degree in English Creative Writing or a related field.
- Experience teaching creative writing.
- Two books of creative writing (poetry fiction creative nonfiction) published with national presses or equivalent professional accomplishments.
- Must be able to travel to campus regularly or be a resident of California
Preferred Qualifications
- One book published in the genre of the mentorship
- Experience teaching adults or graduate students
- Experience in publishing or editing literary works
