Reviews accuracy and completeness of project work andinformation. Recommends approval or disapproval of project work. Directs activities of ADOT and consultant highway construction technicians. Approves and disapproves inspector workand diaries. Writes cost estimates and supplemental agreements.
Knowledge in:
* Principles and practices of civil engineering as applied tohighway construction Inspection.
* Computational and adjustment factors to be applied in the review and analysis of engineering data and land descriptiondata related to highway construction inspection.
* Knowledge of construction inspection methods proceduresand techniques. Knowledge of construction materials testingprocedures.
* Agency standards policies and procedures applicable tohighway construction inspection.
* Computer program applicable to highway constructioninspection.
* Google Platform Knowledge
Skill in:
* Analyzing and evaluating a wide variety of engineeringdata.
* Researching reading and interpreting a variety oftechnical engineering document such as survey datahighway plans blueprints specifications materialstesting data and computer generated data.
* Skills in analysis and preparation of materials field testingdata.
* Change order and technical writing
* Oral and written communications.
* Organizing and prioritizing work assignments.
Ability in:
* Use computational and adjustment factors
* Use mathematical computations.
* Communicate written and orally.
* Safely drive a fullsize pickup truck on and offroad.
* Work outdoors for extended time exposed to heat colddust and noise.
* Maintain professional productive interpersonal relationswith all highway construction partners and stakeholders
* Ability to read and interpret a variety of construction documents including highway maps and plans.
Three years experience equivalent to a Senior Transportation Engineering Technician level (grade 20 or above) OR a Highway Maintenance Supervisor (PG 19; or Completion of the ArizonaDepartment of Transportation EngineerinTraining (EIT) Program; or Registration as a professional Civil Engineer in the State of Arizona. Certifications with ATTI and ACI.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C. R210207.11.
