Job Description
The senior project manager leads a project team or multiple project teams simultaneously. Senior project managers work on larger or more complex projects. They work with multiple teams each project manager of a team reporting directly to them. Senior PMs do not duplicate the work of project managers but provide a higher level and wider scope of management to projects and project teams as well as to the organization they belong. They have the authority to run projects on a daytoday basis and delegate tasks to individual project managers.
Responsible for ensuring all projects in delivery phase meet the project objectives set out in Financial Investment Decision. This will cover ensuring the projects we bid are deliverable ensuring the commercial teams have technically sound contractual position(s) & processes.
You will be responsible for the daytoday management of the portfolio of projects in the South region ensuring they are delivered safely and to the required time budget and quality.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
- Leadership of Project Management of Portfolio of projects
- Lead negotiation of Delivery matters during PBD stage of projects (i.e. Adoption Agreements Design Frameworks)
- Manage overall project budgets; authorized to spend budget within years approved plan. (in line with relevant Governance procedures)
- Effective Planning allocation and management of resourcing plan from the support functions and/or regional unit
- Build strong relationship with external/internal partners and stakeholders
- Be the lead and principle for any JVs for delivery as required
- Ensure best practice is shared across the regions through regular engagement with Head of Delivery North
- Responsible for Health and Safety management; ensuring it is delivered through functional teams (i.e. Engineering)
- Ensure all project and works delivered are complaint with VHUK management systems
- Ensuring a high standard of information/ configuration management
- Proactive Personal Planning for Delivery projects
- Manage the project to ensure all contractual aspects between Vattenfall clients and contractors ensuring the compliance of all parties particularly with respect to completion of Project prior to programmed operational start date
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with project sponsors and other key stakeholders
- Produce weekly/monthly project progress report and to monitor and update the plan throughout the project period
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency with project management tools and related technology
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Good team manager with coaching abilities an eye for detail and for meeting the Clients expectations
- Sensitivity to commercial development and ability to work in complementarity with the commercial team
- Knowledge of financial indicators for project followup
- Strong legal and contract management knowledge
- Master the risk management culture
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (including customer presentations)
- Flexible and organised; able to plan concurrent assignments and manage unexpected circumstances
Qualifications :
- Proven project management experience in District Heating projects including project realisation site supervision and commissioning
- Experience working with business stakeholders in related industries
- Experience with and understanding of full project or product lifecycle
- Proven experience demonstrating leadership drive results solving problems from prior work situations
- Strong background in safe operation of sites supported with formal training (NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent)
- Degree or HND qualified
