Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join ExoMatter as a Senior Research Scientist. In this role you will be responsible for managing the development of new materials property calcaultion routines to further develop our Materials R&D platform.

Become part of a young deep tech and software startup based in Munich and revolutionize materials development with us. ExoMatter is a spinoff of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and part of the UnternehmerTUM family of startups. We have a first product on the market with paying customers like Airbus and BSH and a strong upward trajectory.

Tasks

  • Coordinate the deployment of computational materials science solutions based on density functional theory (DFT) simulations machine learning and thermodynamic models for material screening.
  • Develop and implement novel materials informatics approaches for materials discovery.
  • Contribute to the expansion and improvement of our material property database.
  • Work closely with software engineers to integrate new models into our platform.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners including academic and industry stakeholders.

Requirements

  • You hold a PhD in Physics Computational Chemistry Materials Science Materials Engineering or similar
  • You have at least 2 years of postdoc or work experience in industry after your PhD
  • You are an expert in atomistic materials simulation methods from firstprinciples (DFT) to (semi) classical (MD EMA)
  • You have hands on experience in theoretical solidstate physics/chemistry
  • You live in Munich or want to move to Munich within 34 months and are then willing to work ca. 50 of your time onsite
  • Fluent in spoken and written English German skills are a plus

Not required but a plus:

  • Background and industry experience in (scientific) software development
  • Experience with AI/ML for materials science
  • Experience in polymer modeling (MD ML)
