Job Description
The Challenge:
This position is for a highly motivated and experienced geophysicist based in Oranjemund Namibia. The incumbent will be required to provide specialist geophysical and numerical processing outputs to forward the discovery and evaluation of diamond and nondiamond resources by integrating and interpreting data as well as improving on technical processes and methodologies to increase effectiveness of decision making in the Exploration department. The incumbent will be required to coordinate geophysical exploration projects. The successful geophysicist must already have acquired field experience in both marine survey and landbased mineral exploration methods using techniques such as multibeam echosounder seismic methods magnetics gravity electromagnetics and other related techniques. The work is strongly quality orientated according to established exploration practices. The candidate must be effective at quality control practices executing and coordinating field operations and have strong numerical processing and data management skills.
Qualifications :
The Ideal Applicant:
- BSc Honours degree in Geophysics or equivalent
- 5 years experience in mineral exploration geophysics
- Strong grasp of numerical data processing analysis and modelling
- Marine survey techniques incl. multibeam echosounder and seismics
- Ground survey techniques incl. gravity magnetics and electromagnetics
- Competency in software packages incl. Geosoft Model Vision Pro ESRI ArcGIS Pro as well as basic coding proficiency.
- Problem solving skills
- Advanced report writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Effective team member
- High degree of mobility
- Code B drivers license
- Valid SADC drivers license.
- Must be able to swim and have a good sense of water safety.
- Seagoing experience highly desirable
