Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Mainframe Systems Programmer will be responsible for maintaining monitoring and optimizing the Wyoming Department of Transportations RIS driver services program.
- This role requires extensive experience in mainframe system programming problem resolution and thirdparty software integration.
- The Systems Programmer will work closely with the ADABAS Database Administrator to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install configure maintain and support Z/OS operating systems and associated components.
- Analyze develop modify and debug vendorsupplied utilities and software packages.
- Diagnose isolate and resolve complex software and system issues.
- Monitor system performance and capacity implementing necessary optimizations.
- Plan and execute disaster recovery procedures ensuring business continuity.
- Provide Tier 2 technical support for mainframe environments.
- Maintain operate and troubleshoot BMC ControlM scheduler software.
- Manage and integrate thirdparty software solutions including VTAMSWITCH and other ISV software.
- Collaborate with the ADABAS Database Administrator and other IT staff to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer.
- Extensive knowledge of Z/OS operating system system utilities and debugging tools.
- Experience with BMC ControlM job scheduler software.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning and implementation.
- Familiarity with thirdparty mainframe software such as VTAMSWITCH.
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must pass background checks compatible with Wyoming DCI requirements.
