Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Sussex to assist with the appointment of an Energy Contracts Officer on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 19.02 23.81 per Hour

Summary:

We are seeking an Energy Contracts Officer to manage and oversee highvalue contracts related to energy procurement and other key services. You will work closely with senior managers suppliers and stakeholders to ensure contract compliance deliver value for money and promote sustainability. This role requires strong analytical skills contract management expertise and the ability to provide strategic guidance on procurement processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Manage a diverse portfolio of highvalue and complex energy contracts ensuring compliance with procurement regulations including Standing Orders EU Procurement Directives and statutory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Advise and support senior managers and contract officers on innovative contracting solutions. Engage with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment with sustainability goals and policy objectives.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor and review contractor performance to ensure service delivery meets agreed targets. Analyze statistical and financial data to inform decisionmaking including cost assessments inflation analysis and market evaluations.
  • Supplier Negotiation & Relationship Management: Liaise with suppliers to negotiate contract terms pricing and specifications. Attend supplier meetings and trade exhibitions to stay informed on industry developments.
  • Training & Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior contract officers providing ongoing training and development. Support the implementation of corporate procurement strategies and assist with delivering sustainable procurement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in Contract Management or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and EU Procurement Directives.
  • Proven experience managing highvalue complex contracts and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract management systems.

Essential:

  • Ability to independently solve problems and make informed decisions.
  • Advanced analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with senior stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
