What you will be doing:

  • Provide technical coordination and support in the operating and capital expense management processes by initiating and running projects using the capital expense (CAPEX) project equipment monitoring stabilization and improvements.
  • Responsible for detailed engineering work in the areas of instrumentation PLC power distribution and equipment integration which includes electrical design power distribution design and automation system design.
  • Provide Technical Support for Operations working closely with leaders on Operational Improvements.
  • Trouble Shooting of Existing Equipment and Processes.
  • Develop and refine engineering procedures.
  • Process sample and data collection and interpretation.
  • Benchmark other Gerdau Mills bringing back Best practices
  • Implement new technology.
  • Train and develop technical operations
  • Conduct Technical Studies to support CAPEX investments.
  • Support process improvement projects where applicable.
  • Participate in the development of Annual Action Plans.

Experience you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in: Electrical Engineering
  • 58 Years of Industrial HandsOn Experience planning and installing electrical equipment and automation controls.
  • ISA Certified Automation Professional Certification (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated project management experience which includes planning budgeting design scheduling procurement installation and start up of electrical controls equipment and instrumentation.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing the performance of electrical control systems on production machines and equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in Industrial Safety and Construction Methods.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in all Microsoft software such as Project Word Excel PowerPoint etc. and advanced drawing skills with AutoCad.
  • Knowledge of equipment machine design standards and specifications and machine safety design including ANSI ASTM FM NFPA and IEC.
  • Knowledge of NFPA70 and NFPA70E.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and standards.
  • Knowledge of database systems for process control applications.
  • Installation and strong programming capability with Rockwell Automation PLC systems.
  • Working knowledge of automation communication systems.
  • Installation set up and troubleshooting abilities with AC and DC drives and motors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
