Job Description
This opening is for seasoned paraprofessional 5 years of experience working with ASD students including those using AAC for speech generation to work with a high school aged student who receives his education in a communitybased environment in a 2 staff:1 student model. In this educational environment a small core team embeds his curriculum into natural learning opportunities across settings to help mitigate a tendency toward splintered skills and to provide a dynamic learning experience. This position is temporary (approximately 10 weeks to cover maternity leave however may lead to other opportunities within the Bedford School District and beyond).
REQUIREMENTS:
DAYTIME WORKING HOURS 124 MF (no after 3pm applicants please)
5 years working with older students with autism including nonspeaking students
Safety training preferred
Familiarity with Assistive Augmentative Communication (AAC)
Excellent communication skills
Willingness to implement program across settings in the community and in locations outside of the classroom
Dynamic implementation approaches that honor the unique abilities and needs of this student.
