Working in Southern European Origination: 

Statkrafts Southern European Origination team concludes nonstandard structured and often complex transactions in wholesale energy markets of Spain/Portugal France and Italy. We are organized into local Origination teams in each market plus the Portfolio Management team in Germany. While the Origination teams originate structure and negotiate new transactions Portfolio Management focuses on pricing these transactions and managing the portfolio exposure in the market including trading of power and other energy commodities. Foundational to the responsibilities of the Portfolio Management team is the development of sophisticated pricing models und underlying stochastic and fundamental power market models. All teams closely collaborate on a joint one team one PnL philosophy per region. 

Statkrafts Southern European Origination has been a first mover on longterm PPAs in Spain and Italy with more than 50 wind and solar PPAs contracted. In addition the portfolio consists of tailormade longterm agreements with IPPs/generators and large end customers as well as other nonstandard flexible and structured wholesale products. Furthermore Southern European Origination is running a PPA business in France and holds a sizeable routetomarket renewables portfolios in that market.  

We are looking for an intern to join the Southern European Origination Portfolio Management team for a 6 month internship starting in May 2025. 

Job Description 

Responsibilities: 

• Gain firsthand and indepth understanding of power markets and related commodities with a focus on renewable energy and learn the fundamentals of energy trading  
• Support trading activities with analysis of key market factors which will allow for a better decision making on a daily basis 
• Strengthen our valuation of battery energy storage systems with analysis of revenue streams risks and portfolio effects 
• Build out our tool landscape to manage the portfolio of power and other commodities including automation of reporting and data management processes  

Qualifications :

Qualifications 

• Currently studying or recently received a degree in either Economics Mathematics Finance Engineering or other relevant analytical field of study and available for a 6month internship 
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills 
• Proficiency with data analysis/data science in Excel and Python  
• Interest in the renewables and power market 
• High level of motivation structured way of working and ability to get things done 
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly 
• Fluency in English  
• Understanding of power markets an advantage but not required
