The head coach is responsible for planning and administration of a sportspecific program. The head coach provides vision leadership and oversight for current studentathletes prospective studentsathletes alumnae parents and supporters of the program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Instruct studentathletes on physical health team concepts safety and sportspecific skills on both an individual and team basis.
- Identify and recruit talented and qualified prospective studentathletes according to recruiting goal established by Athletic Director.
- Determine and select rostered team members; exercises fulldiscretion of studentathlete playing time/competitive opportunities.
- Teach advise and mentor studentathletes on lifeskills.
- Maintain acceptable win/loss records or placefinish in accordance with Augsburg University Athletics program standards.
- Monitor and support academic progress of studentathletes/teams to meet/exceed athletic department standards; intervenes with appropriate corrective action as needed.
- Maintain acceptable studentathlete retention rates to the team and/or institution.
- Create sportspecific practice and game/meet plans analyze film and facilitate team meetings.
- Supervise Assistant Coach(es) and/or graduate fellow(s) (if applicable).
Additional Responsibilities
- Oversee all areas of budget management fundraising travel planning and program organization.
- Alumni/parent communication and involvement including organizing events as appropriate.
- Organize and participate in team communityservice event(s).
- Involvement with camps and clinics.
- Perform/supervise tasks related to maintaining the athletics department including athletic equipment concessions game management studentathlete academic support and administrative duties.
- 30 of the position will include an assigned duty from Athletic Director.
- All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Sport Specific playing surface indoor/outdoor weather season
- Evenings weekends and travel required.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required.
- At least three 3 years of relevant coaching and recruiting experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree.
- A successful record as a head coach at the high school or collegiate level or 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the demonstrated ability to use them effectively.
- Demonstrated high commitment to student athletic academic and athletic success.
- Knowledge and adherence to the MIAC Code of Ethics and follow MIAC and NCAA Division III guidelines and regulation while exhibiting behavior that represents a positive image of the athletic program and the university.

Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg
- The compensation is $50000 $60000 per year DOQ.
