Head Womens Volleyball Coach

The head coach is responsible for planning and administration of a sportspecific program. The head coach provides vision leadership and oversight for current studentathletes prospective studentsathletes alumnae parents and supporters of the program.  

Primary Responsibilities

• Instruct studentathletes on physical health team concepts safety and sportspecific skills on both an individual and team basis.
• Identify and recruit talented and qualified prospective studentathletes according to recruiting goal established by Athletic Director.
• Determine and select rostered team members; exercises fulldiscretion of studentathlete playing time/competitive opportunities.
• Teach advise and mentor studentathletes on lifeskills. 
• Maintain acceptable win/loss records or placefinish in accordance with Augsburg University Athletics program standards. 
• Monitor and support academic progress of studentathletes/teams to meet/exceed athletic department standards; intervenes with appropriate corrective action as needed.
• Maintain acceptable studentathlete retention rates to the team and/or institution. 
• Create sportspecific practice and game/meet plans analyze film and facilitate team meetings.  
• Supervise Assistant Coach(es) and/or graduate fellow(s) (if applicable).

Additional Responsibilities

• Oversee all areas of budget management fundraising travel planning and program organization.
• Alumni/parent communication and involvement including organizing events as appropriate.
• Organize and participate in team communityservice event(s).
• Involvement with camps and clinics.
• Perform/supervise tasks related to maintaining the athletics department including athletic equipment concessions game management studentathlete academic support and administrative duties. 
• 30 of the position will include an assigned duty from Athletic Director.
• All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s). 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Sport Specific playing surface indoor/outdoor weather season
• Evenings weekends and travel required.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelors degree required.
• At least three 3 years of relevant coaching and recruiting experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters degree.
• A successful record as a head coach at the high school or collegiate level or 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the demonstrated ability to use them effectively.
• Demonstrated high commitment to student athletic academic and athletic success.
• Knowledge and adherence to the MIAC Code of Ethics and follow MIAC and NCAA Division III guidelines and regulation while exhibiting behavior that represents a positive image of the athletic program and the university.

Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg

• The compensation is $50000 $60000 per year DOQ.
