Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee the production process within our aerospace precision component manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of aerospace industry requirements and manufacturing standards with experience in CNC programming tool selection and product traceability. The Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring product quality compliance with aerospace standards and effective management of production workflows. You will play a key role in leading a team to meet production targets manage rework and rejection materials and validate fixtures and tooling for precision machining.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance with Aerospace Standards:
- Ensure strict compliance with Aerospace Industry requirements and certifications including Defense Industry standards.
- Maintain awareness of and implement relevant aerospace quality regulations such as AS9100 FAA and other standards related to aerospace precision manufacturing.
- Work closely with quality control and engineering teams to ensure all products meet the required compliance standards.
- Product Traceability & Identification:
- Oversee and ensure proper product traceability and identification throughout the manufacturing process.
- Maintain records to preserve product history including traceability of materials processes and test results to meet aerospace documentation and regulatory requirements.
- CNC Programming & Machine Operation:
- Provide leadership and oversight of CNC programming for various machine types including VMC 4axis and 5axis machines turning centers and turnmill centers.
- Ensure that all CNC programs are optimized for efficiency quality and machine capability.
- Support the programming team in troubleshooting and resolving programming or machinerelated issues.
- Tool Selection & Life Monitoring:
- Oversee the selection and monitoring of tools used in the machining process.
- Implement systems for tool life monitoring to ensure consistent tool performance reduce machine downtime and maintain product quality.
- Coordinate with the maintenance and tooling teams to ensure tools are properly maintained and replaced when necessary.
- Rework and Rejection Material Handling:
- Manage the handling of rework and rejection materials ensuring that rejected components are processed correctly tracked and handled in accordance with aerospace industry standards.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce the volume of rejected products.
- Work with quality control to analyze root causes of rework and implement strategies to improve production quality.
- Fixtures and Gages Validation & Traceability:
- Ensure the validation and traceability of all fixturing and gauging equipment used in the production process.
- Oversee the maintenance calibration and approval of fixturing and gaging equipment to ensure precision and compliance with aerospace manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure all fixture and gage setups are thoroughly documented for future traceability and audit purposes.
- Production Planning and Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of production operators machinists and technicians ensuring that production goals are met efficiently while maintaining high product quality.
- Oversee the daily production schedule ensuring that production targets are met on time and within budget.
- Provide leadership training and development to the production team fostering a culture of safety quality and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and optimize production workflows identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing:
- Promote and implement Lean Manufacturing principles to improve production efficiency reduce waste and lower costs.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including process optimization and the use of Six Sigma or similar methodologies to enhance production quality and efficiency.
Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE/B.Tech) / a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME)
Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience in equipment maintenance Extensive experience in the aerospace precision component manufacturing industry or a similar highprecision manufacturing environment.
