Key Responsibilities - Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for complex projects including labor materials equipment and overhead.
- Bid Management: Independently manage 23 Public Works bid opportunities per month preparing comprehensive estimates for RFP submissions.
- Conceptual & Final Estimating: Provide complete preliminary and final cost assessments for CM/GC work.
- Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with owners architects engineers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues during negotiations and contract execution.
- Site Assessments: Conduct site visits to gather information assess project conditions and identify potential risks.
- Subcontractor & Supplier Coordination: Solicit evaluate and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Project Cost Monitoring: Review project budgets throughout the construction phase to ensure adherence to estimates and identify costsaving opportunities.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and presentations including cost breakdowns risk assessments and feasibility studies.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay uptodate with industry trends new materials and emerging construction techniques to enhance estimating accuracy.
Requirements & Qualifications - Education: Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering Architecture or a related field.
- Certifications: Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) preferred but not required.
- Experience:
- 10 years of experience as a construction estimator with a strong track record of accurate and competitive bid preparation.
- Experience with public works projects and general contracting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods materials and building codes.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical mathematical and problemsolving abilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Work Environment & Physical Demands - Frequent exposure to fumes airborne particles moving mechanical parts and vibrations at job sites.
- Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions during site visits.
- Job sites can be loud and work may involve climbing balancing kneeling and lifting up to 25 lbs.
