JOB DESCRIPTION
Your Role
- Our Assistant Designer is an individual contributor responsible for assisting with the creation of commercially viable product designs across collections.
- Coordinates and delivers brandright designs that tie back to the overall concept and business strategy; encompassing style color/print fit and fabric for new/existing product lines.
- Applies a solid working knowledge of fashion trends and consumer needs to product designs.
- Demonstrates a passion for the brand inspires individuals and relies on limited experience to plan and accomplish goals.
- Takes direction under immediate supervision exercising a minimal degree of scope/decision making.
Your Impact
- Assist the design team in the creation of brandright commercial designs that reflect the conceptual direction/business strategy
- Deliver design sketches/prototypes and provide clear specifications for construction
- Build and maintain the sample room
- Create flat sketches and CAD images
- Prepare design team for routine and milestone meetings including the coordination of line presentation boards/tableaus and selection of product samples
- Communicate ongoing development details to internal partners (i.e. Production Tech Merchants) and vendors ensuring all communication is flowing to the correct people
- Partner with technical design on fit and execution of prototypes assisting with scheduled fittings and necessary followup
- Track and organize development samples ensuring they are delivered within required timelines and seamlessly passed off to key parties
- Attend routine team meetings and key partner alignment sessions
- Adapt designs based on feedback incorporating for finalization
- Apply processes to understand/anticipate the needs of the customer in order to exceed customer expectations and readily react to their needs
- Utilize resources in sourcing new ideas both internally and externally and stay up to date on competitor research/trend analysis
- Communicate point of view clearly through mood boards and concept tears
- Achieve set goals with acute attentiontodetail tracking progress & anticipating potential issues
- Pursue/embrace opportunities to personally grow and develop skills/competencies
- Develop and understand the VS eye/brand identity and specific category
- Build and maintain effective relations with key partners
- Seek to improve process to deliver efficiently with speed/agility
Your Experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Entry level with some design experience in a comparable retail environment
- Microsoft Office Illustrator Photoshop and InDesign proficiency; Centric a plus
- Exceptional talent with a commercial fashion eye and detail in product styling/performance
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to recall information
