Job Description

If so we would love to hear from you as we are seeking an enthusiastic Associate Nurse Unit Manager for our busy CSSD for fulltime employment reporting to the CSSD Manager at Epworth Geelong Waurn Ponds. Your role will involve leadership of the CSSD team responsibility for the quality program and oversight and coordination of loan instruments and equipment.  You will also be responsible for checking loan equipment in and out as well as coordinating with company representatives and theatre staff to ensure all necessary loan instrumentation and prostheses are sterilised and ready for when they are needed in theatre.  You will also contribute to other areas of the department with leadership of CSSD instrument technicians and work clinically in CSSD.  You will contribute to infection prevention and control as well as overall patient safety by ensuring the quality of reusable medical devices through sterilisation and disinfection processes.  

You will make an impact by: 

  • Ensuring positive inclusive leadership of CSSD team 
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of service to meet the specific daily operational needs 
  • Ensuring accurate processes are undertaken and documented 
  • Actively contributing and overseeing the quality improvement program within the department 
  • Practicing within the requirements of the RMD sterilisation standards and standard operating procedures 
  • Ensuring all loan instruments and equipment is coordinated and processed ready for use when required 

To be successful in this role: 

You will support the theatre team by overseeing the loan instrument and equipment processes to ensure equipment is ready for use when needed.  You will work closely with our Clinical Nurse Specialists and theatre ANUMs.  Additionally you will be involved in collection cleaning decontamination inspection testing packing sterilisation storage and distribution of reusable medical devices and equipment and will be a proactive member of a selfdirected and cohesive CSSD team.  Experience in theatre nursing and some experience and knowledge of sterilisation is essential for this role.   

You will be dedicated to quality service provision that aligns with the requirements of relevant regulations and standards enjoy working independently as well as in a team and be committed to quality improvement. 

You will have: 

  • A minimum of 3 years theatre nursing experience with some knowledge and experience with sterilisation of reusable medical devices 
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA 
  • An understanding of the loan instrument and equipment processes
  • A well developed ability to plan organise and prioritise work 
  • Have or be willing to undertake Certificate IV in Sterilisation
  • A commitment to excellent customer service and quality improvement 
  • A working knowledge of relevant regulations and standards impacting sterilising services 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the application of infection prevention and control practices as well as OHS requirements as they relate to sterilising services

Currently our specialities include; Orthopaedics Vascular General Macs Facs ENT Pain Ophthalmology Endoscopy Plastics Neurosurgery and Urology. We operate Monday to Friday with emergencies on weekends which helps provide flexible rostering giving our staff an excellent work/life balance. With education as a key motivator for our department we provide multiple opportunities for our staff to develop new skills as well as continue to build on their already strong knowledge base.

The annual salary range for full time ANUM AUD $107462 $110966 super entitlements depending on registration type year level and position (prorated for parttime).
