Position: Senior Highway Geometric and Pavement Design Engineer
Location: ABUJA and SOKOTO
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master’s Degree in Highway Engineering will be an added advantage
- Must be COREN Registered Engineer with current Practicing License
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation)
- Strong understanding of highway design principles traffic flow and road safety standards.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in highway engineering designs in a consultancy environment must have worked in Strong Design firms.
- Minimum of B.sc HND or ND won’t be accepted.
- Must have worked in reputable and Known Engineering Companies.
- Experience of highway technical design on major and minor projects including a good understanding of design principles and the ability to practically apply them
- Good knowledge and experience of delivering highway geometric & pavement designs
- Good knowledge and experience of delivering highway drainage designs
- Must be IT literate with good knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D and other civil engineering packages to design and detail highway infrastructures
- Good understanding of financial and commercial aspects of projects especially developing the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME)
- Good knowledge of standard engineering practices and a demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety.
- Must have strong expertise in Designs of Roads Pavement Bridges etc.
Working Conditions:

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the technical and project management control of the highway engineering projects.
- Delegate and direct Engineers and Technicians involved on projects.
- Develop and supervise junior Engineers in the team
- Responsible for all stages of highway designs ensuring compliance with appropriate standards
- Production and delivery of technical packages and applications.
- Production of AutoCAD and Civil 3D models and drawings
- Liaising with project team to ensure designs are fully coordinated.
- Liaising with other construction professionals in the development of designs
- Prepare the delivery of technical outputs within the team (Drawings Specifications Cost Estimates Contract Documents and Technical Reports);
- Preparation and pricing of scope/briefs proposals and deliverables for new projects
- Identify develop and maintain relationships with main client contacts
- Take commercial responsibility for projects
- Ensure successful project delivery to time cost quality and other contractual requirements
- Work with clients to understand ultimate objectives and desired outcomes for each project
- Make presentations to clients third parties and colleagues as appropriate
- Be client facing with the ability to represent the Company externally at a senior level alongside managing their own workload
- Undertake site visits to monitor the progress of works against specifications and highlight issues to the contractor client and/or (internal or external) project manager as necessary.
