Job Title: Senior Engineering Leader
Location: Toronto ON (Hybrid minimum 2 days Downtown inoffice)

Our client is a lean fastpaced startup of 4050 people dedicated to delivering innovative SaaS products that solve realworld problems. Founded on the principles of collaboration and innovation they are scaling rapidly and looking for a VP of Engineering to join the team reporting directly to the CEO This is an opportunity to define and execute our engineering vision lead a talented team and stay handson in shaping the technical foundation of their products.

As the VP of Engineering and Senior Engineering Leader you will oversee our engineering efforts driving strategy architecture and development of scalable SaaS solutions. This is a handson leadership role where you will contribute to technical decisionmaking foster crossfunctional collaboration and cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence. The ideal candidate is a Senior Manager or Director of Engineering looking to step into a VP role with experience in scaling teams and building products in a highgrowth startup environment.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership:
  • Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with the companys goals and product vision.
  • Partner with leadership to set technical priorities and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify analyze and mitigate potential risks including technical debt scalability challenges and security vulnerabilities.
Team Building & Mentorship:
  • Build mentor and lead a highperforming engineering team fostering a culture of collaboration accountability and continuous learning.
  • Lead by example to inspire engagement and motivation while setting high standards for technical and operational excellence.
  • Attract develop and retain top engineering talent to support growth.
HandsOn Technical Leadership:
  • Remain handson with coding and architecture when needed setting a strong example of resourcefulness and efficiency.
  • Drive architecture decisions to ensure products are robust scalable and secure.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies recommending improvements to enhance system performance and reliability.
Product Development:
  • Partner with product design and data teams to create solutions addressing customer needs and market demands.
  • Oversee the full development lifecycle from planning and design to execution release and maintenance.
  • Champion Agile methodologies ensuring efficient development processes and prioritizing highquality deliverables.
Operational Excellence:
  • Implement best practices in CI/CD testing and deployment to support efficient highquality development.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics continuously improving team efficiency and product quality.
  • Oversee resource planning and budgeting ensuring initiatives are executed on time and within scope.
Role Qualifications:
Experience & Skills:
  • 10 years of handson software engineering experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role (preferably in a tech startup or highgrowth environment).
  • Proven success in building and scaling engineering teams in lean resourceconstrained environments.
  • Expertise in developing SaaS products with a strong foundation in cloud computing distributed systems and scalable architectures.
Technical Expertise:
  • Exceptional technical background with experience in modern tools and frameworks (e.g. Docker Kubernetes Terraform React Node.js MongoDB GraphQL).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and managing multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Handson experience in architecture and coding for scalable datadriven systems.
Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crossfunctional teams and collaborate effectively with product design and data teams.
  • Strong customercentric mindset with experience delivering solutions that address realworld problems.
  • Excellent communication skills capable of conveying technical information to nontechnical stakeholders.
