Job Description

Roles and responsibilities


Participates in the skilled mechanical maintenance activities of rotating and stationary equipment/ process plant machineries of the assigned areas. i.e.-Gas distribution systems (GDS) or Tank farm/Terminal/NGCF Areas. This includes execution of preventive, corrective, breakdown & inspection related mechanical maintenance jobs on equipment/machineries like Oil/Condensate export Pumps, marine loading arms, diesel engines, crude and condensate storage tanks, crude & condensate loading terminal equipment including Oil fiscal metering systems, Prover loops, pipe lines/valves/related accessories, compressors, pumps, fin-fans, heat exchangers/coolers, water storage tanks, vessels, fire protection systems/foam systems. Also executes minor pipe fabrication/fitting jobs. Carries out work in accordance with Corporation and applicable industry standards.
Maintenance and Repair:
Routine Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical systems and machinery to ensure they operate smoothly and to avoid breakdowns.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, using diagnostic tools and techniques to determine the cause of failures in machines and systems.
Repair and Overhaul: Carry out repairs or replacements of faulty components, such as motors, gears, pumps, and valves. Sometimes, they may also need to rebuild machinery to restore functionality.
Calibration: Calibrate mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure accurate performance and operational safety.
Installation and Assembly:
Assembly of Machinery and Equipment: Install mechanical systems and machinery according to blueprints and technical drawings, ensuring all components are properly aligned and functioning.
System Testing: Perform testing and adjustments of newly installed mechanical systems to verify that they meet operational standards.
Set-Up and Commissioning: Assist in setting up and commissioning new mechanical systems or machinery, ensuring they meet quality standards and function optimally.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to Safety Protocols: Follow health and safety standards while working with mechanical equipment to avoid accidents, injuries, or hazards.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that mechanical systems and maintenance work meet industry regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE, including gloves, helmets, and safety glasses, while performing maintenance tasks.


Desired candidate profile


4 Years experience in the maintenance of compressors, pumps, and associated equipment.
Good knowledge of spoken and written English. Good knowledge in Computer.

Educational Qualifications

Completion of secondary (12 years) education, followed by 3 years formal full-time education (equivalent to Diploma) to HND level or equivalent.
Inspection and Monitoring:
Inspect Equipment: Regularly inspect mechanical systems, components, and machinery to identify signs of wear and tear or potential issues before they lead to major problems.
Monitor Performance: Continuously monitor the performance of mechanical equipment to detect any deviations from normal operation, ensuring the machinery works within designed specifications.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of maintenance work, inspections, repairs, and parts used to ensure transparency and support future troubleshooting.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
Problem-Solving: Use technical knowledge to identify, analyze, and solve mechanical problems efficiently, minimizing downtime.
Collaborate with Engineers: Work closely with mechanical engineers to resolve complex issues that require in-depth technical knowledge or new system designs.
Provide Technical Advice: Offer advice or technical support to other team members or departments regarding mechanical systems or equipment.
Parts Management:
Inventory Control: Ensure that spare parts and materials required for maintenance tasks are readily available, properly stored, and accurately inventoried.
Parts Replacement: Identify when parts need to be replaced and ensure the correct parts are ordered and installed.
Order Supplies: Order replacement parts and tools, ensuring that maintenance can proceed without delays due to lack of materials.
