The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in supporting Oslers Strategic Communications department with particular focus on public relations as the team works to continually enhance the brand and profile of Osler and its people. The individual in this role will assist with a variety of activities and strategic priorities across the strategic communications team including but not limited to copy editing writing proofreading media reporting communications dashboards development of presentations and memos stakeholder relations functions and event and project planning.
Accountabilities:
- Support the planning coordination and execution of internal and external events projects and communications strategies that are driven and overseen by the Strategic Communications portfolio
- Develop edit and proofread presentations briefing notes letters memos and other communications products for various internal and external audiences with acute attention to detail grammar spelling etc.
- Develop media clippings for the organizations leaders and support the Strategic Communications team with measurement and evaluation of media stories and services
- Develop responses to confidential challenging and routine inquiries from external and internal stakeholders using tact and sensitivity
- Liaise with external organizations and stakeholders to coordinate and execute Strategic Communications priorities
- Conduct secondary research and engagement with external partners and experts to obtain information and tools to support project activities
- Collect data and perform analysis to support evaluation as part of strategic communications reporting activity to help inform decisionmaking
- Assist with planning and executing events (virtual or inperson) as required
- Perform some administrative functions to support the team and its leaders requiring the use of independent judgment and with a minimum of direction (e.g. payroll submitting invoices to accounts payable budget tracking and expense report submissions)
- Provide periodic support to Oslers Chief Communications Officer and the departments Directors and Senior Managers on some administrative activities; this can include occasionally coordinating scheduling and support agendasetting and document distribution for a wide range of meetings and communications activities
Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Corporate Communications Public Relations Journalist or discipline
- 13 years of experience in a communicationsrelated role
- Relationshipbuilder with exemplary customer service public relations and diplomacy skills including dealing effectively with all employee groups the public and representatives from government and other health care organizations
- Strategic proactive actionoriented disposition; is comfortable putting forward new ideas
- Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently exercise good judgment take initiative and ensure the resolution of routine issues
- Team player able to collaboratively at all levels of the organization and build partnerships with crossfunctional teams
- Multitasker with excellent time management and project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize workflow
- Highly developed judgement and initiative in analyzing issues identifying solutions and decisionmaking on highlysensitive matters that impact Oslers stakeholder relationships
- Knowledge of the health care landscape and environment in Oslers catchment area
- Adaptable flexible and resilient with changing circumstances
- Experience in data analysis planning and reporting experience with a current media reporting platform is desirable
- Advanced proficiency with office software specifically Microsoft Office Suite software applications including Outlook Word PowerPoint Excel Publisher the Internet and electronic data management systems as well as Adobe Creative suite
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality
- Ability to travel to and work between Osler sites; must have access to vehicle
