Job Description
Eurofins PSS is seeking a talented in vitro biologist that can contribute to our efforts in Global TherapeuticsCompanion Animal Discovery. The group partners with therapeutic areas and project teams to design novel substrate screening assays and build robust testing funnels for a variety of therapeutic approaches that improve diseases or conditions in companion animals (cats dogs horses).
The successful candidate should have at least 1 year of relevant experience executing cellfree and cellbased in vitro screens for evaluation of substrate (biotherapeutics and small molecule). Experience with developing and/or optimizing platebased cellular assays and analyzing data from in vitro screens are a plus. Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop optimize and execute cellfree (e.g. ligand binding biochemical) and cellbased in vitro screening assays for assessing substrate potency (small molecule and biotherapeutics)
- Perform immunebased techniques such as AlphaLISA Luminex ELISA flow cytometry immunohistochemistry etc.
- Apply a variety of cellular and molecular techniques to develop cellular models of disease for veterinary species
- Cell culture and aseptic technique; maintenance of primary and immortalized/recombinant cell lines
- Isolation of primary cells from tissues or whole blood (PBMC isolation)
- Experience with RNA extraction and qPCR techniques a plus
- Data analysis and interpretation; maintenance of an accurate lab notebook and presentation of data at team meetings
- Collaborate across multiple scientific disciplines
Qualifications :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Educational background: BS or MS (molecular or cellular biology immunology or related field)
- Training or experience in biological sciences preferred
- Experience in developing optimizing and executing cellbased in vitro screens is highly desirable
- Experience with assay automation a plus
- Experience with analysis and interpretation of data from in vitro screens (e.g. IC50 determination)
- Experience in flow cytometry and livecell imaging a plus
- Selfstarter able to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal/written communication organizational and interpersonal skills
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Word Excel Outlook
- Experience with GraphPad Prism or similar graphing software a plus
