Job Description

On behalf of our geotechnical focussed engineering consultancy client we are recruiting for a highly experienced geotechnical engineer in Newcastle New South Wales with strong experience in Instrumentation & Monitoring and earthworks on soft soils.

With various site verifications such as piles and temporary works mandating chartered engineer signoff being CPEng would be ideal.

With a 4 year project life we are looking to engage a consultant/contractor for at least a year with the hours of work typically being Monday to Friday and we are open to multiweek working rosters if flexibility is desired.

The Construction Phase Supervision scope is:

  1. Soft Soils Instrumentation & Monitoring
    • The monitoring and troubleshooting of data incoming
    • Piling Supervision
      • Bored / driven
      • Soft rock / paleo channel
    • Earthworks
    • Temp works
      • Focussed only on ground verification
      • Provide recommendations (with some simple calculations) to deal with Construction Team issues.
      • Provide support with temporary works designs with most temp works designs being undertaken by our in house designers)
      • Provide site verifications of those temporary works designs.

    We are looking for someone keen to make a project their own having fantastic autonomy of the day to day structure whilst still being ably supported by the engaged and available national team.

    Ideally you will have

    • 10 years of industry experience in Geotechnical Engineering;
    • Technical knowledge and application in soil/rock mechanics;
    • Fieldwork experience in various geological conditions;
    • Excellent communication skills both oral and written;
    • Proficient report writing skills and the ability to organise information in a coherent and logical way;
    • Hold a current Australian drivers licence;
    • Strong analytical & problemsolving skills employing a riskbased approach.
