Linux Devops Engineer

Job Requirements/Role

Acting as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the support teams responsible for maintaining a scalable and resilient infrastructure to support the needs of teams across EA

Acting as SME for the operation of resilient distributed systems that run across multiple data Center and cloud providers

Directly influence our journey towards zerotouch highly scalable reliable infrastructure. Direct involvement in incidents or problems that cause service impact and act as escalation point for incidents that impact Enterprise Linux Infrastructure platforms.

Automate optimize and drive efficiency of efforts code and process.

Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovations that improve system availability resilience and performance.

Create maintain and share technical documentation used by engineers and other team members.

Provide mentorship to other team members and partner with other SMEs across the organization

Training and completing knowledge transfer sessions with appropriate other teams within IT Operations

Skills/Experience

6 to 10 years experience as Linux administrator with strong knowledge on Linux. The experience of a 24x7 production operations environment preferably supporting a highly available environment for a large multinational organization.

Strong admin and troubleshooting skills to manage Linux systems Redhat and CentOS. Deep technical understanding of Linux kernel architecture deployment and operation best practices.

Install hardware and software maintain appropriate service levels performance tuning and firmware upgrades across Linux Based platforms.

Perform advance tasks such as capacity planning performance monitoring provide recommendations for improvement and implement or oversee implementation of the recommendations.

Perform system software upgrades including planning / scheduling testing coordination and maintaining integrity of operating system environment.

Harden operating system parameters in line with Data security policy standards or best practices.

Troubleshoot problems with deployed servers or perform new deployments from scratch. Both troubleshooting and bootstrapping require proper understanding of interdependencies between various services. This is a keyrequirement from an L3 engineer.

Ability to understand requirements suggest possible issues with current setup present new architectures migrate from existing setup to new setup with minimum downtime and no loss of data is critical.

Indepth troubleshooting knowledge on Linux processes network stack protocols etc. is necessary for a candidate to be able to perform as per expectations at senior position. Strong communication and coordination skills with different teams within IT

Strong interpersonal and teaming skills ability to set and enforce process and influence engineers who are not direct reports

Ability to operate in an agile and dynamic environment

Ability to multitask managing multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifting attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy. Demonstrated ability to quickly resolve the incidents and upkeep the service availability.

Ability to articulate endtoend technical requirements across delivery functions. Excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal conflict resolution and customer service skills.

Able to analyze complex crossfunctional and crossplatform issues.

Good capabilities around capacity planning and analysis.

Knowledge of ITIL process

Able to define process improvements.

Understands systems dependencies and interrelation to the business.

Professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff.

RedHat Satellite Spacewalk perforce

Good knowledge of scripting languages such as Python BASH etc.

Preferred / Value add if have skills on below areas/technologies

Ability to automate tasks with programming (Shell scripting) or configuration management tools (Ansilbe) etc. is preferred.

Experience with configuration management frameworks/tools (such as Ansible IdM) is preferred.

Basic knowledge of Virtualization Technologies and associated services (specifically VMware vCenter vRealize Automation and vROPS)

ESXi infra Management (Virtual Machines VMTools Migrations backups templates etc.) Certifications

RHCE is preferred

Ansible certification would be an advantage

ITIL Certification would be an advantage
