Job Title: Technical Buyer
Location: USTXAddison (Dallas TX area) Onsite
Salary Range: $75k $90k
Overview:
Lawson Enterprises is working with a client in the industrial manufacturing sector to hire a Technical Buyer. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of procurement to support organizational operations efficiently and costeffectively. The Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing purchasing and managing vendor relationships for critical commodities including fabrication controls valves and instrumentation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in supply chain management industrial engineering or mechanical engineering with prior experience in procurement within a manufacturing or projectbased environment.
Responsibilities:
- Source equipment goods and services while identifying and managing vendor relationships.
- Review purchase requisitions and coordinate with suppliers to obtain product information such as pricing availability and delivery schedules.
- Obtain and evaluate price quotes from vendors ensuring alignment with requirements and budget.
- Negotiate purchase orders and finalize deals under optimal terms.
- Verify receipt of goods and resolve any shipment discrepancies with suppliers.
- Support the development and implementation of new purchasing strategies to drive cost reductions and streamline procurement processes.
- Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary and scope limitations.
- Manage purchase orders for fabrication buyout items and inventory replenishment.
- Maintain accurate procurement records including order documentation and vendor communications.
- Update pricing databases for key commodities under management direction.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a related field.
- 5 years of purchasing experience in a subcontract manufacturing or projectbased environment.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to drive procurement decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a strong emphasis on Excel.
- Strong negotiation decisionmaking and leadership skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly motivated selfdirected and customer serviceoriented.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- CPIM certification.
- Experience in fabrication procurement and/or controls valves and instrumentation procurement.
- Knowledge of ASME AWS UL NSF NEC NFPA and IEC standards.
Work Environment & Travel Requirements:
- Role primarily performed in an office setting with visits to manufacturing and supplier facilities as needed.
- Compliance with company attendance standards required.
- Travel may be required to support vendor negotiations project oversight and supplier evaluations.
