About the Role
Our client a fastgrowing startup that has helped over 200000 job seekers find opportunities across various industries (hospitality and healthcare) is now changing the space by offering a platform that closes the gap between employers and candidates with realtime information on available candidates. With a presence in multiple countries and backing from investors they are expanding their team rapidly and are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the growth of the platform and the remote team!
Our client is looking for a Staff Engineer with expertise in Ruby on Rails to lead a remote team of five engineers and contribute to the evolution of their platform while driving key technical advancements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a distributed team of five engineers fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
- Oversee architectural choices and backend development utilizing serverless infrastructure.
- Manage and refine system design to enhance scalability reliability and efficiency.
- Lead the migration of instances on AWS to improve system performance and resilience.
- Optimize the platform for realtime features to support the onboarding of a growing client base.
- Develop and sustain highquality scalable Ruby code.
- Construct and optimize APIs using AWS API Gateway.
- Supervise integrations with thirdparty tools and services.
- Strengthen system monitoring logging and alerting capabilities.
- Diagnose and address performance challenges and defects.
- Coordinate with frontend developers to ensure smooth API interaction (knowledge of Vue or React is a plus).
- Promote best practices in coding standards testing and DevOps processes.

What You Bring:
- A minimum of three years in a Senior/Staff Engineer Technical Lead or equivalent role in a largescale production setting.
- Experience leading a remote team of five engineers.
- At least three years of handson experience working with Ruby in live applications.
- Strong proficiency with AWS particularly in serverless architecture (Lambda DynamoDB API Gateway RDS S3 Beanstalk).
- Expertise in migrating AWS instances and scaling platforms for realtime features.
- Experience guiding teams mentoring engineers and making critical technical choices.
- Solid understanding of Git GitHub and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise in software design patterns scalability strategies and security best practices.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and automated test processes.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fastmoving environment.
- Bonus: Exposure to frontend frameworks such as Vue or React.
