Biotope by VIB is an incubator program and earlystage investor for biotech teams wanting to turn their nextgen sustainable innovation into successful startups. As an initiative run by VIB the leading life sciences research institute in Belgium biotope supports earlystage biotech startups developing sustainable solutions for agriculture food and materials bringing them to seed stage within 18 months. Right from the start the incubator and its associated fund Biotope Ventures provide significant preseed funding and work handson with a small cohort helping teams transform their innovative technologies into businesses ready for investment.

Come and join biotope by VIB. We are looking for a fulltime stakeholder manager to actively bring together grow and nurture the biotope ecosystem being one of the cornerstones of our mission.
What will you do
As biotope is a new initiative with a small team we are looking for a jack or jill of all trades who loves to work on a variety of activities and adapts to provide handson support wherever needed. You will play an important role in the biotope team that is based at the VIB offices around Ghent. As a stakeholder manager you will be responsible for identifying engaging and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in biotopes ecosystem. Your role is critical to ensuring the success and added value of the network to our portfolio startups. You will act as a bridge between biotope and our stakeholders to identify added value align expectations address concerns and foster collaboration.
Your main responsibilities will include
Stakeholder Identification and Analysis
- Identify potential new key stakeholders including national and international potential partners mentors government entities and startups
- Conduct stakeholder mapping and analysis to understand their interests added value influence and expectations
Engagement and Communication
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies and plans
- Facilitate effective communication channels to provide updates gather feedback and address concerns
- Manage the network expansion of a virtual community platform
- Prepare presentations reports and other communication materials tailored to different stakeholders
- Ensure diversity and impact throughout all communications developed
- Represent biotope at (international) events and conferences
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure longterm collaboration and support
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders addressing inquiries and resolving conflicts
- Ensure stakeholder needs and concerns are understood and taken into account
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with the biotope team and portfolio startups to align organizational objectives with stakeholder expectations
- Facilitate virtual and inperson stakeholder meetings workshops and events to foster collaboration
Profile
You have the necessary skills and background to quickly find your way in an international network and culture. You can spot opportunities kick start new initiatives motivate stakeholders and execute the project to success. You are a real team player with an outspoken constructive attitude and you get things done in a proactive independent manner.
You enjoy being the point of contact for stakeholders startups biotope supporters to answer their questions and connect them with other players in the biotope ecosystem.
You have:
- A masters degree in (life) sciences or business economics or equal by experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in stakeholder management with proven ability to build and maintain professional networks forge partnerships and drive collaboration
- Strong communication and networking skills
- A structured and efficient way of working
- High interest in business and startup creation
- A profound knowledge of English both written and spoken
- Preferably already an international network in agrifood/ biomaterials/ innovation/ entrepreneurship
