This role is based in our Otemachi Financial City North Tower office.

Role Overview

Omdia an Informa TechTarget Company is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Integrated Tech consulting team in Japan with a specialized focus on Manufacturing Technology. This person will support delivering high-quality outputs for custom consulting projects and interact with internal/external customers as part of their day-to-day activity. The role reports to the Director of Consulting based in EMEA whilst closely interacts with other Japan and global team members within the Integrated Tech consulting team as well as the broader strategic consulting group.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities primarily within the manufacturing technology sector
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Develop compelling value propositions and solutions tailored to client needs in manufacturing technology
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align business development initiatives with organizational growth strategy
  • Represent Omdia at industry events conferences and client meetings to enhance market presence

2. Project Management

  • Lead end-to-end management of custom consulting projects ensuring delivery to client satisfaction
  • Achieve individual consulting billable utilization targets
  • Develop comprehensive project plans with clear objectives timelines and resource allocation
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including analysts consultants and subject matter experts
  • Monitor project progress manage risks and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time within scope and within budget

3. Project Fulfillment

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary research including data collection analysis and synthesis focused on manufacturing technology markets
  • Perform market analysis competitive intelligence and corporate strategy assessments
  • Prepare concise structured research deliverables such as briefs reports presentations and strategic recommendations
  • Ensure deliverables align with client expectations and demonstrate deep industry expertise
  • Track project progress and maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle

4. Bid Management

  • Lead all bid stages of custom projects including drafting of project proposal documents
  • Develop competitive and compelling proposals that address client requirements
  • Where necessary manage third-party subcontractor(s) to support project delivery

5. Client Engagement

  • Ensure exceptional client service through proactive communication and professional handling of requests
  • Support presentations and meetings by gathering key insights creating visuals and preparing briefing materials
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients on manufacturing technology trends market dynamics and strategic opportunities
  • Build long-term client relationships that drive repeat business and referrals

Qualifications :

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering Business or an applicable field; masters degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in market research consulting and/or engineering with demonstrated expertise in manufacturing technology and/or related industry
  • Strong familiarity with market analysis methodologies and corporate strategy frameworks
  • Proven track record in business development project management and project fulfillment
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing technology markets including trends competitive landscape and industry dynamics
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to source analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint Project) and other productivity tools such as Tableau and BI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proactive adaptable and a quick learner with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Proven client-facing experience with senior-level stakeholders
  • Strong client-facing and presentation skills
