Job Summary

Backgroud

The application scope of industrial processors is rapidly expanding ranging from edge AI devices to factory equipment and data center this context ensuring cybersecurity for systems that include embedded devices has become a significant societal challenge in sectors such as manufacturing and healthcare.

As a result embedded products for industrial use are required to achieve both advanced functionality and a high level of security. Expanding product capabilities through the use of open source software and applying the latest security technologies to products have become key priorities.

In this position you will be responsible not only for device driver development and porting of existing software but also for addressing emerging industrial standards and advanced security technologies. You will drive these initiatives as part of a global development team working in collaboration with open source communities.

You will gain hands-on experience in developing open source technologies particularly Linux-based platforms as well as security technologies for embedded systems and delivering these innovations as products to the market.

We are looking for engineers who have a strong interest in these areas and are motivated to contribute to bringing products to market.

Job Description

This position is responsible for the design and development of Linux-related software for our industrial high-end processor RZ series in collaboration with internal LSI design teams and both domestic and international open source communities.

Based on your skills experience and area of expertise you will primarily be assigned to one or more of the following areas:

  •  Design and development of device drivers for new hardware
  •  Design and development of security features such as hardware-based encryption and secure boot
  •  Design and development of common Linux-related software (e.g. Linux kernel Trusted Firmware-A U-Boot OP-TEE) for high-end processor products as well as management and maintenance of deliverables as InnerSource assets
  •  Integration and evaluation of open source software for industrial networking functions such as OPC UA
  •  Technical discussions proposals and support with internal and external stakeholders including open source communities as well as contribution of patches to those communities
  •  Development and maintenance of build environments using the Yocto Project (e.g. recipe development and maintenance)
  •  Package development for proprietary libraries for Ubuntu and Debian
  •  Management of vulnerability information (CVE: Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) formulation of patching strategies and implementation of countermeasures
  •  Planning and management of software maintenance as well as process improvements and automation to ensure product quality
  •  Technology research prototyping and evaluation for next-generation products

Qualifications :

MUST

  • Experience in embedded software development (approximately 5 years). Candidates should be capable of understanding detailed software control requirements from hardware specifications and independently carrying out development and debugging of such control software.
  •  Basic knowledge of open source licenses such as GPL MIT and BSD
  •  Strong communication skills with customers and internal and external stakeholders
  •  Motivation to work in an English-speaking environment
  • Japanese Language Proficiency: JLPT N2 or higher

WANT

  •  Experience in one or more of the following areas: Linux kernel device drivers graphics video codecs security or industrial networking functions
  • Experience with development using the Yocto Project
  •  Knowledge of Arm architectures such as Cortex-A Cortex-M Cortex-R and TrustZone or RISC-V architecture
  •  Experience in programming with Arm or RISC-V assembly language
  •  General knowledge of security for embedded products
  •  Experience in software debugging on development boards using ICE or similar tools
  •  Experience contributing to open source communities
  •  Experience in development within CI/CD environments using tools such as GitLab and Jenkins
  •  Knowledge of security-related technologies (e.g. secure boot cryptography SELinux CVE handling)
  •  Knowledge of virtualization technologies including hypervisors
