Our mission is to execute R&D projects funded by governments around the world and support the realization of innovation at Rakuten Mobile. We work closely with internal and external stakeholders both domestically and internationally to support cutting-edge R&D from various perspectives including technical managerial and operational aspects. This organization is responsible for managing the finance and administrative tasks of research and development projects conducted by Rakuten Mobile with support from Japanese/US .

The role involves extensive communication with both internal and external stakeholders making it a team where one can expect to gain broad knowledge and diverse experience.

Job Duties

This position will be responsible for performing accounting procedures in compliance with relevant laws and regulations when executing projects financially supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry and other relevant ministries and agencies as well as government-affiliated financial institutions (hereinafter referred to as relevant ministries and agencies).

Specifically the duties include the following:
Accounting for supported expenses (including bookkeeping management and verification organization and storage of supporting documents)
Monitoring of fund usage
Budget vs. actual management
Management of assets acquired through grants
Responding to audits by the Board of Audit relevant ministries and agencies and external audit firms

Minimum Qualifications

Practical experience (2 years) in accounting procedures for public funds (government subsidies commissions from public institutions etc.) or practical experience in corporate accounting (3 years)
Communication skills for negotiation and coordination with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Practical experience in global business (2 years)
Practical experience in the IT/telecommunications industry (3 years)

*There is a possibility of domestic and overseas business travel and relocation.
