Step into a high-impact role at the heart of RWESTs APAC trading operations. Youll be the primary engineer in Tokyo owning the full stack from frontend through data to cloud and shaping how mission-critical tools evolve as the business scales. If you enjoy building while modernising and turning todays business-built solutions into engineered reliable platforms this is your moment.

• Design build and continuously improve trading and operational systems for the Tokyo Trading Team keeping day-to-day operations smooth
• Re-platform legacy business-built tools for scale reliability and maintainability without disrupting the desk
• Develop web applications using AngularJS (frontend) and FastAPI (backend) and automate workflows with Python
• Operate and enhance cloud infrastructure on AWS and/or Azure strengthening monitoring resilience and availability
• Own data flows for Japan: onboard market and vendor datasets ensure data quality consistency and timely availability
• Upgrade key capabilities such as HJKS outage data processing and the OCCTO Interconnector Dashboard for performance usability and analytics readiness
• Act as the go-to liaison between the Tokyo Trading Team and APAC technology stakeholders resolving issues promptly and taking part in limited weekend on-call rotations

• Hands-on experience building and operating modern web applications and services (e.g. AngularJS FastAPI Python) or comparable frameworks and languages
• Practical exposure to AWS and/or Azure with a focus on reliability monitoring automation and operational troubleshooting
• Sound data engineering fundamentals across pipelines validation reconciliation and performance tuning (e.g. Dremio/Tableau)
• Ability to translate trading desk needs into pragmatic technical solutions; comfortable partnering with traders and schedulers
• Ownership mindset with the courage to decide take smart risks learn from failure and deliver measurable outcomes in a fast-moving environment
• Collaborative inclusive teammate who acts as #TeamRWE: shares knowledge seeks and provides feedback and champions health safety and respect

• Background or basic knowledge in the power or energy trading industry
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimisation practices
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience working in a cross-border multicultural team environment
