ABOUT OUR ROLES
As an Associate within the Controllers division you will be a key guardian of the firms financial integrity and regulatory standing. This role focuses onRegulatory Reporting ensuring that Goldman Sachs remains compliant with complex global and local reporting obligations. You will manage the accuracy of the firms books and records while navigating a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape in Japan and Asia more broadly.
Controllers group is responsible for safeguarding the firms assets: to help maintain the integrity of Goldman Sachs finances and expenditures. Through careful consideration and analyses of firm finances objectives and strategies we ensure that the firms businesses continue to be profitable and efficiently run. Controllers also ensure that all business practices are in compliance with financial and regulatory requirements worldwide. Since contact with virtually every part of the firm is essential to Controllers professionals in the department experience Goldman Sachs businesses products and sophisticated technology systems in depth.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Prepare to be exposed to various products under the 10reports the team covers by interacting with middle office teams sales other internal clients and external regulators to meetregulatoryrequirements.
- Use your inquisitive mindset to evaluate and escalate risk items to protect the firm.
- Showcase your attention to detail by ensuring manual processes are done with care and also your creativity by enhancing the process to eliminate those where possible.
- Partner with Technology to review and improve scalability and process strategically and tactically.
- Grow with the team;develop a deeper understanding of complex transactions and work with our business partners to assess market changes and support new business.
SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Academic degree in business administration or finance
- 8 years of professional experience in a regulatory control or compliance environment within the financial services sector.
- Proven experience withSubstantial Shareholder Reportingand a deep understanding of Japanese compliance rules.
- Fluency in Japanese and English is essential for navigating Japan-specific regulatory requirements and engaging effectively with regulators and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate and compliant reporting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Exposure to a wide range of financial products including equities fixed income and OTC derivatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience withBusiness Intelligence (BI) tools(e.g. Alteryx SQL or Tableau) for data analytics and process automation is highly desirable.
- Ability to balance tactical day-to-day reporting with long-term strategic process improvements.
