Job Description

The Director Oncology Corporate Affairs is a central point of counsel and corporate affairs insight for AstraZenecas Oncology Business in Japan. This role is responsible for defining and advancing policy interests aligned to AstraZenecas ability to innovate launch new treatments and improve patient outcomes in Japan; growing our reputation as a leader in oncology; and strengthening collaboration with patient advocacy organizations.

Collaborating cross-functionally with Medical Commercial and Market Access & central policy colleagues this role drives efforts to advance early detection of cancer improve access to innovative treatments and ensure patients across Japan have equal access to high-quality cancer care.

The role also contributes to AstraZeneca Japans wider Corporate Affairs strategy developing evidence-based arguments and engaging stakeholders at national and local levels positioning AstraZeneca as a solutions-oriented partner to Japans healthcare system. A key responsibility is to support policy engagement on access to innovative oncology medicines including understanding of Chuikyo (Central Social Insurance Medical Council) MHLW and drug pricing processes.

This role reports to the Head of Corporate Affairs & Strategy Japan and works closely with the Oncology Business Unit leadership team as well as the Japan policy council.

Requirement

Experience
Essential:
7 years of experience in corporate affairs public affairs communications or related field in healthcare field
Experience engaging with senior leadership and external stakeholders at high levels
Deep understanding of Japans healthcare policy landscape including MHLW PMDA Chuikyo and drug pricing/reimbursement processes
Proven relationship development and management skills with government industry associations or patient organizations
Experience in cross-functional collaboration and matrix working environment
Track record of strategic thinking and managing complex stakeholder initiatives

Desirable:
Experience in oncology policy or deep understanding of oncology
Patient advocacy organization experience
Experience working with global headquarters or in multinational organizations
Line management experience

Native-level Japanese with business-level English (written and verbal)
