Job Summary

Meridian ESL is recruiting Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) for teaching opportunities in Japan.

As an ALT you will support English language education in Japanese schools by working alongside local teachers and helping students improve their communication skills and confidence in English.

This role offers the opportunity to experience Japanese culture develop your teaching career and make a positive impact in the classroom.

Requirements

Education

  • A completed Bachelors degree in any subject is required for the Japanese working visa.
  • A TEFL TESOL or CELTA qualification is not mandatory but is considered an advantage.

Language Proficiency

  • Native-level English proficiency is required.
  • Applicants must have completed at least 12 years of their education in schools where English was the primary language of instruction.

Professionalism

  • Strong adaptability flexibility and professionalism.
  • A genuine interest in working within a Japanese school environment and becoming part of the local community.

Clearances

  • Successful applicants must provide a clean criminal background check.
  • Applicants must complete any required health checks before placement.

Other Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a valid driving licence in their home country.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) before departing for Japan.
