About the Role

Group Overview: Japan Special Situations Group (SSG) focuses on providing non-traditional liquidity and risk solutions across the capital structure to clients operating with a mandate that spans private structured credit distressed assets and bespoke financing solutions.

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Analyst or Associate to join our Tokyo-based SSG trading team. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities commercial intuition a proactive mindset with exceptional integrity. This role offers exposure to complex capital opportunities and direct involvement in deal execution risk management and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct deep-dive financial and operational analysis of companies across sectors with a focus on special situations

• Support due diligence processes including market research legal review and engagement with external parties

• Underwrite risk actively manage positions and optimize outcomes through negotiations/workout

• Collaborate internally with cross-functional partners across the globe

Qualifications Skills and Requirements

• 13 years of experience in investment banking asset management or a similar analytical role

• Financial modeling and valuation skills

• Fluent in Japanese; business level in English (spoken and written).

• Strong self-management ownership and integrity

Preferred Attributes:

• Prior exposure to special situations illiquid structured credit private equity and/or real estate financing

• Experience working with legal documentation and transaction structuring

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders
