Founded in 2004 EST manages six strategic terminals throughout Sicily including the Maritime Terminal of Augusta the largest multipurpose container hub on the island by volume and a crucial hub in the Mediterranean for global trade.
Position Description
To strengthen our technical team at Augusta Container Terminal we are looking for a Specialized Reefer Container Technician (Reefer Technician) to join our existing technical squad.
We are not looking for an isolated technician but a person who will strengthen an already structured team of electromechanical maintenance technicians and port operators. The resource will collaborate in the complete management of the reefer fleet within the team: his priority is to ensure together with colleagues the cold chain the availability of containers and the correct storage of the goods.
You will work side by side with the vehicle maintenance technicians and with the yard operations team sharing shifts availability and know-how. The ability to perform in a team logic and mutual support the first electromechanical diagnostic intervention on port handling vehicles (reach stackers port cranes fifth wheels port tractors forklifts) is also required.
Main Responsibilities
- Management monitoring and temperature control remotely and in the yard (Reefer Monitoring System) in coordination with the shift operations squad.
- Execution of full PTI (Pre-Trip Inspection) according to Carrier Thermo King Daikin Star Cool procedures.
- Advanced fault diagnosis on compressors electronic boards/microprocessors refrigerants R134a/R452A heaters fans sensors.
- Scheduled extraordinary and 24/7 emergency maintenance on reefer containers and genset units in rotation with the team.
- Gas charging brazing replacement of refrigeration circuit components.
- Recording of interventions on TOS / maintenance management program and reporting for client / shipping line.
- Management of reefer spare parts and compliance with F-Gas regulations.
- First intervention and troubleshooting on electrical/electronic/electromechanical systems of yard equipment supporting the equipment maintenance team.
- Active collaboration accurate shift handovers and knowledge sharing within the technical team.
Minimum Requirements
- High school technical diploma in Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronics / Refrigeration.
- F-Gas Refrigeration License - MANDATORY.
- At least 3 years of proven experience on reefer containers in terminals depots or marine service.
- In-depth knowledge of brands: Carrier Thermo King Daikin.
- Reading of electrical and refrigeration diagrams use of manifold gauges leak detectors testers.
- Availability for work at height.
- Availability for shift work (including nights) holidays and on-call duty.
- Precision detail-orientation problem-solving and strong team-working attitude.
Preferential Qualifications
- PES/PAV/PEI Electrical Safety Certification (CEI 11-27) - Qualification for electrical work.
- Working at Height Certification.
- Basic knowledge of automation logic and PLC interaction.
- Driving license C and forklift license.
- Basic technical English.

Contract Type: Full-time Permanent. CCNL Porti (National Port Collective Agreement). You will join a close-knit technical squad with continuous training and mutual support.
