Italy is the Groups Competence center for the design production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.

Job Description

Thales Navigation And non-radar Surveillance (NAS) business segment part of the Thales Land and Air Systems Global Business Unit architects solutions used by two-thirds of all planes worldwide to take off and land safely. Our Ground Navigation portfolio offers a complete range of products which includes the

latest generation of ground-based navigational aids (NAVAIDs) (e.g. ILS DME TACAN VOR) and non-radar surveillance (e.g. ADS-B).

With more than 7000 NAVAIDs and non-radar surveillance installed worldwide in 172 countries we are world leaders in the NAVAIDs market.

Responsibilities

• Participate to an integrated agile engineering team composed by several disciplines as Cyber Software Mechanics Radio frequency Safety Design service manufacturing to develop new products or propose improvement of existing products
• Perform studies and simulation to validate innovating concepts and verify the performance of these innovations on the real system
• Analyze stakeholders requirements
• Produce and maintain product System Specifications and the product external interfaces
• Analyze the System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) requirements to determine collectively the relevant modifications to the hardware software
• Support the hardware and software teams in the specifications and the interfaces of the sub systems of the product
• Contribute to system IVVQ activities by defining the test strategy writing test procedures and conduct integration verification and qualification tests

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience or Masters with 4 years experience
• Master degree in Engineering among the following disciplines : Electronic Digital Telecom Radio frequency Aerospace
• Experience in systems engineering
• Overall engineering knowledge: Electronic Software Telecom Mechanical Radio Frequency and Engineering process (design develop qualify).
• Good knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g. MS Office)
• Team spirit to find collectively the most effective way to team objectives
• Capacity to solve complex problem by himself or by requesting support and explain in a synthetic way how to solve them
• Fluent English is a must ability to speak additional languages as Italian French or German is a benefit.

The candidate should:

• Have a basic knowledge of Navigation and Surveillance equipment such as ILS VOR TACAN DME ADSB MLAT WAM and in the technical field of air navigation and surveillance services and on the various regulations / standards such as ICAO or specific local standards.
• Be proficient in the use of requirement management tools (Siemens Polarion ALM IBM DOORS)
• Be proficient with at least one between MATLAB or Python for scientific analysis
• Be proficient in the use of issue tracking software (e.g. Jira)
• Be self-motivated critical thinker with strong curiosity to learn
• Possess excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
