Laborer I

Operates fabricating machines such as cutoff saws shears rolls brakes presses forming machines

and punch machines that cut shape and bend metal plates sheets tubes and structures.

Responsibilities:

Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale rule or template.

Positions work piece against stops manually or using hoist or aligns layout marks with die or blade.

Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.

Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction

Measures work piece dimensions using rule template or other measuring instruments to determine accuracy of machine operation.

Removes burrs sharp edges rust or scale from work piece using file hand grinder or wire brush.

Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines dies or work pieces.

May tend machines that fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.

Performs other work as assigned.

Performs all the work listed above and in addition:

Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments material requirements and tooling.

Loads or enters commands to retrieve programmed instructions from database.

Requirements (education experience travel physical work environment):

High School diploma or equivalent

Should have good communication skills

Must be able to climb twist bend and stoop.

Must have use of hands and be able to work over-head.

Must be able to stand squat and grasp.

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Required to stand for continuous periods of time.
