The Private Sector Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for engaging the private sector (corporations individuals foundations) through high-impact partnerships in support of WFPs strategic priorities and through individual giving to build and retain support from the general public worldwide.

PSP has delivered USD 1.8 billion in the last 5 years and we look forward doubling this figure at the end of 2030. To fulfill this goal we need to secure new high impact partnerships signing significant new corporate deals and growing existing relationships as well as building a base of one million individual supporters. Joining PSP is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to co-develop and implement our new private partnerships and fundraising strategy.

Business Development Fellow Private Sector Partnerships (PSP)
This fellowship offers hands-on exposure to private sector partnerships humanitarian fundraising and emergency response mobilization within one of the worlds largest humanitarian organizations. The fellow will gain practical experience in market research CRM systems (Salesforce) donor outreach and partnership development while contributing directly to WFPs global mission.


RESPONSIBILITIES for an internship of a 12-month period


1. Private Sector Business Development Priority Sectors
The intern will support the Business Development (BD) team by focusing on and developing two industries in the current portfolio.

Key tasks include:
Conducting structured market and company research within the assigned sectors
Identifying and qualifying 2540 high-potential global private sector prospects per industry aligned with WFPs operations.
Preparing concise prospect briefs to inform BD focal point outreach prioritization and decision-making

KPIs / Deliverables

Up to 40 priority prospect briefs completed and saved in Salesforce ready for BD focal point follow up
Demonstrated understanding of sector dynamics value propositions and partnership entry points

2. Emergency Response Outreach
To support WFPs emergency response fundraising objectives the intern will contribute to growing and strengthening of private sector emergency engagement.

Key tasks include:
Expanding private sector emergency-relevant contact lists
Supporting BD focal points with preparation of quarterly emergency appeals and updates tailored by sector.

KPIs / Deliverables
200 new private sector emergency contacts uploaded and quality checked in Salesforce
Quarterly emergency outreach message(s) prepared and disseminated to 200 targeted contacts in coordination with BD focal points

3. Cross-Cutting Business Development Support

The fellow will provide flexible ad hoc support across the Business Development team contributing to both strategic and operational activities.


This may include:
Supporting preparation for partner meetings high- level events and briefings.
Assisting with Salesforce data maintenance and opportunity tracking.
Supporting due diligence processes background research and internal coordination including with the public sector partnerships division.
Helping draft or consolidate basic BD materials updates or summaries as required.

KPIs / Deliverables
Timely and high-quality support provided to BD focal points across multiple workstreams
Accurate and up to date Salesforce records and supporting materials

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education

Currently enrolled with at least two years undergraduate studies completed or recently graduated (within the past six months) University course attendance in the past 12 months;
Relevant fields of study are: Business Administration Marketing Research Communications Management International Relations Humanitarian and Development studies or other related to the mandate of WFP.


Hard skills
Outstanding research data collection and analytical skills;
Strong competency to produce high-quality written materials clearly and concisely;
Essential computer skills in Microsoft Office applications: proficiency in Word PowerPoint Excel Outlook Teams and SharePoint; experience in using layout design tools desired;
Understanding of the private sector Sustainability CSR and corporate philanthropy as well as the humanitarian and development sectors desired.


Soft skills
Good attention to detail and strong communication skills;
Ability to plan and organize work and prioritize tasks with reasonable supervision;
Ability to take initiative to solve problems and seek solutions;
Work effectively in a multi-cultural environment and international organization.


Language(s)
Excellent command of spoken and written English;
Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus (Arabic Chinese French Russian Spanish).
