Associate Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal

Amazons Legal Department is looking for a talented technology lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in selling to commercial and public sector customers throughout the Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region with a primary focus on supporting AWS sales in Italy and Southern Europe. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry providing AI and IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity storage content delivery database services and more to private and public sector customers.

Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting negotiating and advising on strategic technology service agreements with enterprise customers public sector customers and partners as well as providing legal support for local and regional services and initiatives. The role will also involve ongoing legal counsel and regulatory interpretation and guidance for senior executives and other business and legal team members on a variety of product development operational security compliance data protection and public policy matters. The role includes participating in other legal team projects including managing legal issues that arise in existing relationships and handling customer and business partner inquiries. We are looking for a candidate who is proactive entrepreneurial enjoys being challenged has strong technology and communication skills and demonstrates sound pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations.

The applicable collective agreement for this role is for employees of Telecommunication Sector. The position is classified at level 7 or above depending on the candidates skills competences and experience.

You will work with various teams within the AWS organisation. The role involves providing legal support to AWSs Sales and Marketing team (SMGS) in service of tech- and regulatory-savvy customers in Italy and Southern Europe across commercial and public sector engagements covering a range of cloud and technology transactions with customers who are often highly knowledgeable about the technology they procure. Work extends beyond Italy/Southern Europe to include transactional and regulatory support across EMEA delivered through team work allocation and ad-hoc assignments in collaboration with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.

Day-to-day activities may include negotiating enterprise agreements with local customers advising on regulatory matters coordinating with EMEA teammates on multi-country deal structures and serving as lead counsel on strategic sales transactions and partnership agreements. You will pioneer AI-driven transformation of legal operationsimproving contract review cycles eliminating manual bottlenecks and deploying advanced research tools that deliver insights in minutes instead of hours. Your innovations will multiply our legal functions impact enabling faster decisions consistency and proactive risk mitigation.

About the team
The Italy/Southern Europe AWS Legal team is part of the broader EMEA SMGS Legal organisation and consists of lawyers supporting AWSs regional customer base across commercial and public sector engagements. The team also handles EMEA-wide workstreams including matters of data protection financial services and telecommunications. Work spans transactional regulatory and advisory support across multiple jurisdictions requiring close collaboration with business stakeholders and legal colleagues throughout the region.

- Qualified to practice law in Italy.
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification legal experience.
- Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders including colleagues and leadership or experience in logistics
- Speak write and read fluently in Italian and English at C1 level or above

- Knowledge of general AI tools
- Experience engaging with regulatory agencies in permit applications or equivalent
- Familiarity with cloud computing IT infrastructure and telecommunications policies laws and regulations.
- Experience with IT transactions including services agreements.
- Experience in web services/cloud computing software licensing telecommunications or equivalent.
- Experience supporting Italian/EU government/public sector procurement.
- Curiosity about the way things work and proclivity to innovate and simplify.

The minimum gross base salary for this position is listed below. The base salary listed corresponds to working on a full-time basis. For part-time hours the salary will be pro-rated.

Amazon reserves the right to offer a higher salary and/or level depending on the candidates skills competencies and experience. Amazons package may include a sign on addition the candidate may be eligible to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by USA.
