Staff Nurse – Orthopaedic & Acute Surgical Ward
Job Summary

We are currently hiring a Staff Nurse Orthopaedic & Acute Surgical Ward for a hospital in Galway Ireland.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care and treatments in accordance with established hospital policies procedures professional standards and clinical guidelines.
Assess plan implement and evaluate patient care using the nursing process while maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation. Support effective discharge planning based on individual patient needs.
Safely administer medications intravenous therapies blood and blood products and controlled drugs in line with hospital policies. Monitor patients following administration document outcomes and promptly report any adverse events or medication errors.
Adhere to infection prevention and control best practices collaborating with the Infection Prevention and Control Team to identify manage and report infections in accordance with hospital protocols.
Ensure the safe handling segregation and disposal of clinical and medical waste while maintaining compliance with health safety and environmental standards.
- Registered or eligible for registration in the General Nurse Division of the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification with a current NMBI registration or eligibility to register.
- Minimum 12 years of post-registration nursing experience preferably in Orthopaedic and/or Surgical Nursing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient-centred care.
- Personally and professionally accountable for delivering safe and effective patient care.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours with the ability to work a rotational roster including day and night shifts.
