Responsibilities
- Provide safe high-quality evidence-based nursing care to patients in the Medical Assessment Unit.
- Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor patients conditions administer medications and treatments and promptly report any changes.
- Work collaboratively with consultants physicians nurses and the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely patient assessment and treatment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with NMBI and hospital standards.
- Educate and support patients and their families regarding treatment plans medications and discharge care.
- Prioritize and manage the care of acutely ill patients in a fast-paced assessment environment.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control medication safety and health and safety policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives clinical audits and risk management activities.
- Supervise support and mentor junior nursing staff and students where appropriate.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development (CPD) and mandatory training.
- Deliver compassionate patient-centred care while upholding patient dignity confidentiality and professional ethics.
Requirements
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum 3 years post-registration experience in an acute care setting.
- Experience in a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) or a similar department is desirable.
- ACLS certification is preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain certification if not already certified.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver exceptional high-quality patient-centred care.
- Good IT skills.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in cannulation and venepuncture is desirable or willingness to acquire these skills.
