Staff Nurse Emergency Department
Job Summary
Accountable and responsible for own professional practice with a clear understanding of the Scope of Professional Practice Code of Professional Conduct and Beacon Hospital policies guidelines and competencies relevant to practice.
Provision of high-quality nursing care through the use of an individualised system of care in line with agreed nursing standards.
Monitoring and management of all complaints and incidents with prompt escalation to the Clinical Coordinator to ensure full investigation and appropriate follow-up.
Ongoing evaluation and maintenance of high standards of patient care with particular focus on nursing care within the department.
Supervision and support of junior nursing staff during each span of duty providing appropriate guidance direction and assistance.
Promotion of a positive learning environment and encouragement of continuous professional development.
Engagement with current developments in nursing practice to enhance professional knowledge and clinical skills.
Identification and contribution to potential areas of nursing research within the specialty to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.
Registered or eligible for registration in the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI.
Minimum of one year post-registration nursing experience.
Six months experience in an emergency or acute care setting is desirable.
Ability to use own initiative.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritize tasks.
Commitment to delivering a high-quality patient-focused service.
Willingness to undertake additional training and perform the extended role of the nurse.

Required Skills:
Registered or eligible for registration in the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI. Minimum of one year post-registration nursing experience.
