We are hiring a Staff Grade Medical Scientist to a Hospital in Limerick Ireland.

Positions Available:
- 1 Permanent position
- 1 Specific Purpose position (fixed-term contract linked to a particular project leave cover or service need)
Salary:per annum depending on relevant qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory testing and analysis to the highest professional standards.
- Process and handle all specimens in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain the quality and accuracy of laboratory work in line with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all patient laboratory and hospital information.
- Demonstrate professional conduct aligned with the hospitals core values.
- Adhere to and promote quality standards in all laboratory activities.
- Operate and monitor automated laboratory analysers including Chemistry Haematology Immunoassay and Blood Gas systems.
- Manage and support Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) equipment and related processes.
- Assist with the maintenance calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory and POCT equipment.
- Conduct additional laboratory investigations and tests as assigned by the Head of Department or Consultant.
- Participate in internal and external quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programmes.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure appropriate cleaning decontamination and housekeeping practices.
- Accurately maintain laboratory records and documentation.
- Engage in continuing professional development education and research activities.
- Participate in the out-of-hours and on-call rota as required.
- Comply with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 15189 standards JCI Accreditation requirements and applicable Medical Device Directives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory quality efficiency and patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Science (Applied Science) (Honours) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Current registration with CORU.
- Minimum of 6 months experience working as a Medical Scientist in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to promote and uphold a culture of Care Compassion and Commitment in line with the core values of Hospital System.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns to meet service requirements.
- Availability to work a roster typically scheduled across 5 days per week.
