Software & AI Engineering Internship – Solutions Team

Our Story
Unum Technology Centre in Carlow serves as a strategic software development and IT services centre supporting Unum a leading provider of income protection in the US. Our team of IT professionals build solutions and critical business applications to digitally transform the way we do business.

Join our team and gain hands-on experience delivering enterprise software solutions within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. Youll contribute to the development testing and release of solutions across the Total Leave Portal while exploring how AI can enhance software engineering automation and delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain solutions across our portal environments.

• Support software releases testing and production readiness.

• Collaborate with engineers Product Owners Business Analysts and stakeholders in an Agile team.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Leverage AI tools to improve development efficiency software quality and team productivity.

• Manage code and development assets using GitHub and CI/CD tooling.

Skills & Experience

Required

• Knowledge of programming and software development concepts.

• Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.

• Understanding of Agile delivery practices.

• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn.

Desirable

• Experience with GitHub CI/CD or cloud technologies.

• Knowledge of SAFe and DevOps practices.

• Interest in AI-assisted software engineering and automation.
