AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Director Multi-Disciplinary Design to provide strategic technical operational and commercial leadership across our design business in Ireland. The role can be based in one of our offices in Dublin Belfast Cork or Galway.

What Youll Do

AECOM is seeking an accomplished and commercially focused Senior Technical Director Multi-Disciplinary Design to provide leadership across major projects clients and multidisciplinary teams.

This is a senior regional leadership role with responsibility for technical excellence client relationships business development project delivery team performance and financial performance including oversight of budgets revenue generation and profitable growth.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across multidisciplinary design teams bringing together civil structural mechanical electrical architectural environmental and specialist disciplines to deliver integrated solutions for complex projects.

As a senior leader within AECOM you will play a key role in shaping the growth and development of the design business. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining senior client relationships identifying and converting market opportunities leading strategic pursuits and ensuring the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects.

You will have accountability for budget and revenue performance working closely with business leaders and project directors to establish financial targets monitor performance manage risk and deliver sustainable and profitable growth.

The role requires an individual with strong commercial acumen strategic thinking technical credibility and proven leadership capability. You will be expected to operate confidently at senior client and executive level influence across the organisation and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams.

You will also champion innovation and digital transformation including the effective application of BIM digital engineering automation and AI to improve project outcomes enhance productivity and create additional value for clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership for multidisciplinary design teams and major projects across the region.
• Establish and execute strategic plans to support the growth of AECOMs design business and market position.
• Hold accountability for budget revenue utilisation profitability and financial performance within the assigned portfolio or business area.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients stakeholders partners and industry leaders.
• Identify develop and convert strategic business opportunities supporting sustainable revenue growth.
• Lead major pursuits capture strategies bids and client presentations working collaboratively with sector and business line leadership.
• Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities aligned with AECOMs strategic objectives.
• Provide executive-level oversight of project delivery ensuring projects are delivered safely to programme budget scope quality and client expectations.
• Provide strategic oversight of multidisciplinary design integration across civil structural architectural MEP environmental and specialist disciplines.
• Act as a senior technical and client-facing representative for AECOM on major projects and strategic accounts.
• Provide oversight of technical quality design governance risk management and compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
• Lead senior-level design reviews technical assurance value engineering risk workshops and project governance activities.
• Work closely with Project Directors and Business Line Leaders to identify and manage commercial technical and delivery risks.
• Build develop and retain high-performing multidisciplinary teams creating a culture of collaboration accountability innovation and technical excellence.
• Mentor and develop Technical Directors Project Directors discipline leads and emerging senior professionals.
• Support workforce planning succession planning recruitment and development of key technical and leadership capability.
• Drive operational improvements and promote consistent approaches to project delivery resource management and financial performance.
• Champion digital engineering BIM automation and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency quality and client outcomes.
• Represent AECOM at industry forums client events and professional organisations enhancing the companys profile and market position.
• Collaborate with regional national and global AECOM leadership to leverage technical expertise sector capability and international resources.
• Promote a strong culture of health safety quality sustainability and professional excellence across all activities.
• Contribute to the development and execution of AECOMs wider business strategy with a particular focus on revenue growth client development operational performance and technical excellence.

We are looking for an accomplished and commercially focused Senior Technical Director with a strong track record in the built environment multidisciplinary design and the leadership of complex programmes and client relationships.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical excellence strategic leadership commercial acumen and business development capability with the ability to lead teams develop clients grow revenue and deliver high-value projects across the built environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Engineering Architecture or a related technical discipline.
• Significant senior-level experience within the built environment engineering architecture or multidisciplinary consultancy sector.
• Proven track record of leading large multidisciplinary teams and complex projects or programmes.
• Demonstrated experience providing strategic technical leadership across multiple projects clients or business areas.
• Proven responsibility for budgets revenue resource management and commercial performance.
• Strong track record of developing and maintaining senior client relationships and identifying opportunities for business growth.
• Demonstrated experience leading major bids strategic pursuits proposals and client presentations.
• Strong understanding of integrated project delivery design management technical assurance and multidisciplinary design integration.
• Experience managing complex programmes risks resources and competing priorities while maintaining technical and commercial performance.
• Excellent communication influencing negotiation and stakeholder management skills at senior client and executive level.
• Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed and multidisciplinary teams within a collaborative high-performance environment.
• Strong understanding of BIM digital engineering and emerging technologies and their application to improve project and business performance.
