RecruitNet International Ltd a specialist healthcare recruitment agency for both domestic and international candidates is seeking an experienced Senior Sonographer on behalf of a leading hospital in Galway Ireland.

Permanent Position 35 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations including abdominal pelvic small parts vascular and gynaecological scans while producing accurate and timely clinical notes to support Radiologist reporting.
  • Assess and prioritize patient referrals based on clinical urgency and operational requirements to ensure efficient patient flow and smooth departmental operations.
  • Maintain effective communication and work collaboratively with Consultant Radiologists referring clinicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure all ultrasound equipment is maintained to the highest standards carrying out routine quality assurance (QA) checks in accordance with departmental protocols and policies.
  • Provide clinical leadership guidance and mentorship to junior sonographers radiography staff and students supporting their professional development.
  • Promote and maintain best practice standards in ultrasound services ensuring compliance with clinical governance quality and safety requirements.
  • Participate in continuing professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies relating to infection prevention and control patient safety confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience and departmental performance.
  • Ensure all examinations are performed in a safe compassionate and patient-centred manner.







Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (.) in Diagnostic Radiography or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Ultrasound equivalent to QQI Level 9 in Ultrasound.
  • Current registration with CORU.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience working as a Sonographer.
  • Demonstrated competence in performing and reporting a broad range of ultrasound examinations.
  • Strong clinical communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care and maintaining professional standards.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.

Required Skills:
